Take Our Poll: Will Your Pastor Preach a ProLife Sermon?

Pastor Jeff Steffel ProLife Personhood Sermon

ProLife Sermon

January 22, 2014 marks the 41st anniversary of the tragic passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, which legalized abortion in the United States. Thousands of churches will be taking part in the National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, January 19 and 26 which memorializes the lives lost through abortion and celebrates the value and dignity bestowed upon every human person by the Creator.

It’s essential that our churches speak up about the tragedy of abortion. Among self-identified Evangelical Christians, 32% of unintended pregnancies end in abortion. 28% of women who obtain abortions describe themselves as Catholic. That means men and women in your church have been deeply scarred by abortion and need to hear the healing message of repentance, grace, and forgiveness. This also means that men, women, boys, and girls in your church will face an unplanned pregnancy in the future and may consider abortion.

That’s why I need you to do something very important today: call or email your pastor or priest and encourage him to preach a pro-life sermon this week, on January 19 or 26. I guarantee you that your pastor hears from those who don’t want to hear the truth. He needs encouragement from those who know that the truth will set you free! Your words may give him the courage to preach a pro-life sermon for the first time if he’s never done so before, or to preach pro-life sermons more often.

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is also a great time to collect petitions for feelingly The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment Petition. This amendment was just approved December 26, 2013. Registered Florida voters who signed the previous petitions need to sign this new petition. Personhood FL has everything you need to petition in your church and everything your pastor needs to preach a prolife sermon at Leominster http://www.personhoodfl.com/pastors/.

Remember, Personhood isn’t just a political issue. It’s a profound issue of spiritual significance that is at the very heart of what it means to be created in the Image of God. God condemns the shedding of innocent blood and he calls upon His people to do the same. Because so many churches remain hushed about abortion, theologian Francis Schaeffer once said, “Every abortion clinic should have a sign over it saying: ‘This facility open by permission of the local church.'”

Will your church remain silent?

For Life,

Pastor Bryan Longworth

Liberty Counsel Attorney: Every Human Being Should Be Protected

Steve Crampton Rebecca Kiessling

Stephen Crampton

The idea behind the Personhood movement is simple: Every human being should be protected under the law, no matter how young or how old. That is, each of us should be recognized as a “person” in the law. The need for a Personhood Amendment in Florida arises not only because of the refusal of federal courts to recognize the personhood of a child in the womb, as occurred in Roe v. Wade, but also because the Florida Supreme Court has divined a “right” to abortion under the Florida Constitution’s right to privacy clause, Art. I, Sec. 23. See In re T.W., 551 So.2d 1186 (Fla. 1989). Passage of the proposed amendment would establish that there is no right to abortion under the Florida Constitution, and would affirmatively establish a right to life for every living human being.

The language of the proposed amendment is straightforward: “The God-given right to life of every human being at any stage of development shall be recognized and protected. This provision shall be deemed to supersede any other inconsistent provisions.” It first states that the right to life is “God-given.” This phrase echoes the Declaration of Independence, our nation’s charter, which states that the right to life is “endowed by our Creator.” It thus affirms that the right does not come from the government, and so cannot be taken away by the government.

The proposed amendment then explains that the right to life applies to “every human being,” in order to make it clear that neither age, nor size nor physical infirmity will lessen that unalienable right; it applies to every human, of every size and shape and condition. The reason why the amendment uses the phrase “human being” instead of “person” is because Florida law defines murder and other crimes against the person in terms of “human beings” instead of persons. For example, murder is defined as “the unlawful killing of a human being.” Fla. Stat. Ann. Sec. 782.09(1)(a) (emphasis added).

The proposed amendment further states that the right to life applies “at any stage of development.” That is, from the very earliest stages of life, when the tiny human does not really look like us, to the very last stages of life, when we might not be able to do many of the things we used to do, the right to life protects us. In short, the intent of the amendment is to protect every living human being, regardless of age or infirmity.

The amendment next states that this fundamental right to life “shall be recognized and protected.” In law, before we can protect someone we must first recognize that she is a person entitled to be protected. The proposed amendment therefore recognizes every human being and then explicitly states that all “shall” be protected as a matter of constitutional law.

The second sentence of the proposed amendment is more of a guide to those who will have to interpret the law in the context of other laws and amendments. In stating that this amendment shall be deemed to “supersede any other inconsistent provisions,” it makes clear that to the extent it might conflict with any other provision, this amendment will control.

Personhood FL Launches New ProLife Constitutional Petition to End Abortion

Mathew Staver Signs Florida ProLife ProLife Petition

Mathew Staver, Liberty Counsel

Personhood FL launches a new prolife constitutional petition to end abortion and protect all innocent human life including the elderly and the disabled. The new petition is based on language that has won the approval of the Catholic Conference of Bishops and is simple and legally effective.

Please note that this is a new petition. If you have signed one of our previous petitions, you must sign this petition as well. Download The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment Petition today!

The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment is based on language used in ND that garnered the support of prolife groups and Christian denominations including the North Dakota Catholic Conference of Bishops. The previous personhood amendments presented by Personhood FL have received little support from existing pro-life, pro-family groups in Florida and were opposed by the FL Catholic Conference of Bishops. In using this language, Personhood FL hopes to garner the support of existing groups and the FL Conference of Catholic Bishops. As a result of the widespread support for the ND personhood amendment, the North Dakota legislature passed the amendment March 22, 2013, and voters in ND will vote on the amendment in the November 2014 elections.

In studying the outcomes of previous personhood efforts, we have learned that our language needs to be easy for voters to understand. The new petition is just that: simple and to the point. Using terms the average voter can understand makes the amendment more marketable both in the petitioning and voting phases of the petition. Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment Petition simply states: “The God-given right to life of every human being at any stage of development shall be recognized and protected. This provision shall be deemed to supersede any other inconsistent provisions.”

To be effective though, a personhood petition must also be legally effective. That’s why the language of The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment was adapted to the Florida Constitution and statutes by Personhood USA and Liberty Counsel attorneys. This is vital since the Florida Supreme Court created a “right to abortion” in re T.W., A Minor. The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment takes this ‘right to abortion” head on by adding a second sentence that supersedes any inconsistent provision.

Pastor Bryan Longworth, President of Personhood FL believes The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment must be passed to protect our posterity, our elder, and the disabled, “40 years of legal child killing is 40 years too long! It is imperative that we provide constitutional protection to all human life including the elderly and disabled, both of which have been starved and dehydrated to death in our state. It is time to restore the sanctity of human life and re-affirm our God given right to life.”

To launch the new amendment, we need your help. Please donate today to help Personhood FL launch the new amendment.

Personhood Florida is working to restore the sanctity and legal protection of all innocent human life through education, a citizen led ballot initiative, and political action. Download The Right to Life of All Persons Recognized and Protected Amendment Petition today!

Pillars of Personhood

In 2013 Personhood made a difference nationwide:

  • Personhood was featured in Time magazine as the cutting-edge wing of the pro-life movement.
  • Planned Parenthood blamed Personhood for forcing them to shut down two clinics.
  • President Obama attacked Personhood as “absurd,” warning that it threatens abortion.

In the 2012 election cycle, Personhood Florida ProLife PAC:

Contacted all candidates running for Federal, State, and District office in Florida and endorsed over 80 candidates in the primary election and over 40 in general election.

The results of this effort are already producing fruit in 2013:

  • For the first time in history, we have 100% prolife representatives in the FL Senate, the FL House, as well as a district attorney, a public defender, and several local offices.
  • The FL legislature passed 4 personhood compliant bills. All prolife bills presented in this year’s legislature were personhood compliant with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Also in 2013:

Dan Becker is leading the pro-life movement toward a new paradigm of pro-life activism. See Dan on Personhood FL’s new video Personhood: The New Pro-Life Paradigm.

The time has come to call the question. What does it mean to be pro-life in the 21st century? Are we “Standard-bearers,” or are we “King-makers”? Are we the bearer of truth concerning the image of God in man, or are we panderers to political pragmatism? Are we God’s servants for those who have no voice, or are we hirelings who serve the needs of the GOP?

President of Georgia Right to Life, Daniel Becker has over three decades of pro-life activism to his credit. His studies under Dr Francis Schaeffer at L’Abri during the summer of 1973, challenged him to develop a biblical worldview that shaped his view of pro-life political action. He served as PAC Director for Georgia Right to Life during the eight years that Georgia went from a three percent pro-life legislature to a majority pro-life legislature with all nine statewide constitutional officers holding a pro-Personhood NO-exceptions position on the issue of abortion.

As a national leader promoting Personhood, he has challenged the pro-life movement to re-think its educational, legislative and political strategy and adapt it to meet 21st century needs. Using the last decade of pro-life victories in Georgia as a case study, Becker proceeds to chart a course for national pro-life victory . . . state by state.

Dan Becker is the author of the book, Personhood.

“… a great blend of prudence, pragmatism and principled politics, it is certain to cause us to re-think pro-life strategy in the 21st century.”

– Dr. Donald Wildmon
American Family Association

“History will one day look upon the movement to affirm the personhood of unborn children in the same way we now look upon the abolition of slavery and the end of the Holocaust. Dan Becker has been a reliable and principled voice for the unborn. His book advancing personhood for the most vulnerable among us is like a sound of the trumpet that will reverberate throughout time. The Holocaust of the unborn is the darkest chapter in American history and Dan Becker’s book is a call to turn the page and restore a culture of life. It is a must read.”

National Day of Prayer This Thursday: Cry Out to God for America! Pray to End Abortion!

National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer

Thursday, May 2, 2013, is the National Day of Prayer. In 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, we read, “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (NKJV)

If there has ever been a time in America’s history where we need to turn back to God, this is the time! Will you join Personhood FL in crying out to God on behalf of America? Will you pray to end abortion? Will you pray that all innocent human life will be protected in your city and county, in Florida, and in the United States? I urge you to cry out to God on the National Day of Prayer and everyday for this nation that we love so dearly.

As you participate in these events, ask the organizers if you can collect petition signatures for the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition. This will put legs to your prayers as we work to end abortion and protect all innocent human life.

National Day of Prayer events are scheduled across Florida and the United States. View National Day of Prayer Events in your area, and join us in pleading with God to send us revival lest we perish in our sin.

Sermon: Where Do the Candidates in Your Area Stand on the Sanctity of Human Life? Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle Church

Sanctity of Human Life

Enjoy & Defend Life!

Where do the candidates in your area stand on the sanctity of Human Life. In the past, we’ve had to guess. We’ve had to wonder. In fact in the past, most of the voter guides merely asked the question: Do you oppose abortion except in the cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother? If a candidate answered yes, that candidate was deemed to be prolife.

Well, those days are gone for the state of Florida because in the state of Florida, we’ve asked the candidates to take a stand. We didn’t ask them where they stand. We asked them to agree with our position on a comprehensive view of life not just on abortion but also on several other issues including: embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, RU-486, tax funding of abortion, fetal tissue research, assisted suicide, and euthanasia. We also asked for candidates to defend all innocent human life including those children who have been conceived in rape or incest. (Read the document candidates affirmed here.)

We contacted all state and federal candidates in Florida as well as candidates for local offices in 36 of the 67 counties, over 3,500 candidates in all. For the first time doing this, our response has been overwhelming. Candidates from all levels of office from Soil and Water District all the way up to US Senate have taken a stand to defend the sanctity of innocent human life.

We’re going to look at what the Bible has to say about these issues and see what God would have us believe to develop this Biblical worldview.

Sermon Notes:

Opening Passage —

Psalms 71:1-24 – “In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame. Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me. Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day. Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together, Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.” O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt. But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth. You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side. Also with the lute I will praise you-And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.” (NKJV)

Genesis 9:6 – “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.” NKJV

Psalms 139:13-15 – “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.” (NKJV)

Psalms 51:5 – “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.” (NKJV)

Luke 1:15 – “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” (NKJV)

Luke 1:41 – “And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (NKJV)

God’s Blessings are Contingent on Our Obedience

Isaiah 1:15-17 – “When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.”

Jeremiah 21:12 – “Execute judgment in the morning; and deliver him who is plundered out of the hand of the oppressor, lest My fury go forth like fire and burn so that no one can quench it…”

Covenant Tabernacle World Outreach Center

Covenant Tabernacle

Covenant Tabernacle World Outreach Center in Port Saint Lucie Florida is a nondenominational, charismatic reformed church that believes the Pentecostal gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to believers today. We believe God has called us to worship, proclaim His word, and Disciple the nations in obedience to His commandments.

Vibrant Worship

At Covenant Tabernacle, we believe in worshiping God “with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30 – NKJV) As a part of our worship, we blow the Shofar as blown in ancient Jewish worship.

Powerful, Bible based Preaching

We believe that the word of God is true (2 Samuel 7:28) and that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV) We encourage all believers to develop a Biblical Worldview that shapes our view on not only our personal life but also our family, friends, loved ones, church, and civil government.

Discipleship

We believe in following Christ’s Great Commission to “‘go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV) As such, we believe in discipling individuals, families, communities, cities, states, and nations in obedience to God’s word.

Sermon, What Does the Dark Knight Rises Shooting at the Colorado Movie Theater Say about America, Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle

Dark Knight Rises Shooting

Dark Knight Rises

As we gather together to worship the Lord, our hearts are saddened by the shooting that happened in Colorado, and I think we must ask ourselves what does The Dark Knight Rises shooting tell us about America? What does this tell us about our country? Where have we gone wrong that a young person can walk into a theater, a bright person, someone that is in a PhD program, can walk into a theater with a bulletproof vest, helmet, gas mask, four weapons, and thousands of rounds of ammunition and kill 12 people and wound dozens of others?

You know, it was just a little bit over 13 years ago that we heard about the Columbine shooting where young people went to Columbine High School and opened fire on children who were there to learn. I went on the Internet today to look at the chronology of school shootings. I remember hearing about the 60s how the chief problems in schools were chewing gum and being late to class. Today it’s not uncommon at all to have they have violence that happens. When I was in school, you would have fights every now and then, but today you do have violent crimes happening, even rape, even murder. When I look for a chronology of the school shootings, I expected to find just a few. What I found was 3 & 1/2 pages of shootings most of which have happened since 1999 in America.

Where have we gone wrong? Where have we lost our course that in this country our children are killing each other? Parents are killing their kids. Kids are killing their parents? Where have we gone wrong in this nation? Where have we failed? Certainly God has some answers for us. We’re going to look to see what the word of God has to say concerting this subject.

2 Chronicles 7:13 ‑14 — “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  (NKJV)

The National Day of Prayer Message & Prayer, We Need to Return to God

Don’t you long for the day when we will stand with all peoples, all languages, all creeds, with people from all of history that have loved Jesus Christ and we sing and praise, lifting our voices for eternity worshiping our King. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait.

But God has called us to a task here on this earth, and He has called us to pray for our nation. He has called us to pray for those in authority over us. And I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get frustrated with those who are in authority over us. Sometimes I wish they would do things differently. Sometimes it seems like politicians from both parties aren’t doing the right thing, and I wonder whether they really care more about their personal financial gain, or whether they care about this nation, whether they care about this state, whether they care about this county, whether they care about this city.

But in America when we look at government, we must realize that we live in a very unique culture because we are the government. Our founding fathers never envisioned a time when the majority of Americans would be more likely to know who won American Idol than who the Vice President of the United States is! We have a responsibility in this nation.

We need to turn back to God, and you may ask: how do we need to turn back to God? It’s not us that need to turn back to God, it’s all those wicked people out there, but let me tell you something: when the most conservative branch of Christianity only has 9% of its members that have a Biblical worldview, we have a problem in this nation. When the majority of Christians are more likely to be influenced by TV, the news, and movies than they are from the word of God, we have a problem in this nation. When we have pastors that stand up and condone fornication, and adultery, and homosexuality, and perform homosexual marriage ceremonies, and even ordain ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ who are homosexual, something that God says is an abomination, we have a problem in this nation. When we shed the blood of over 55,000,000 preborn children for our convenience, for our figures, for our careers, we have a problem in this nation.

God has called us to be the culture carriers. He has called us to disciple the nations. He has called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He has called us to be the pillar and ground of truth, and we have failed to do this in this nation. In fact, we inherited a nation that was largely discipled in God’s commandments, and we have given it away.

We have stood by and our ancestors have stood by when the idea that God created the heavens and the earth was replaced with the idea that nothing created everything out of nothing by mere chance and random mutations. You would have to be a moron to believe something like that, yet that is what is taught in our public schools today.

We stood by and maybe even participated in the sexual revolution, and we stood by when the Supreme Court ruled that a preborn child was not a person. And we stood by when the Ten Commandments, the Bible, and Prayer were taken out of schools, but folks, long before they were taken out of our schools, they were taken out of our churches and they were taken out of our homes. The family altar has been replaced with the TV set in most homes. We stood by while the blood of 55,000,000 preborn children has been shed.
It is time to stand by no more. It is time to fall on our faces before God to repent of our sins, to turn back to Him, and to get up and take this country back, not for a political party, not for a political candidate, but for the Lord Jesus Christ. He has commanded us to exercise dominion on this earth.

The Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (NKJV)

Father, we do come before you today, and Lord, we do pray for our nation. We pray for our president. We pray for our Congress and for the Senate. We pray for our governor and for our state senators and representatives and all of those thousands and millions of agencies and government workers that are constantly working sometimes it seems to make our lives more difficult. Father, we pray for our county officials, the county commissioners, and our mayor here in Port St Lucie, the mayor of Fort Pierce, and our City Councils. Lord, we pray that you would give them wisdom. Help them Father to rule according to your word so that we may live a quiet and peaceable life.

Lord, as we come and lift up these elected officials, we must realize that we are the ones that elected them. Either our votes or by staying at home and refusing to participate in the political process, we elected them, and Father, we pray that you would help us to take our rightful role in society. And Lord, we confess and we repent today for standing by for so long and letting so many bad things happen in this country, for standing by and allowing your word to be removed from the public square, but Lord, we do confess that in all too many homes in this nation, Your word has been removed. Sure, it may be there, but it’s on a shelf, its rarely used, certainly not used as much as the local television station.

Father, we cry out to you, and we pray that you would break our hearts. We pray that you would turn us back to you Father God. We pray that you would turn your church and this nation back to you. Lord, give us revival lest we die. Father, send us revival and reformation. Send us a fresh move of God. Shake us Lord until there is nothing left except of you. Grant us in this nation Lord another great awakening. Let is start here Father. Let it start right here in this place. Let it start with me, with each one of us. Let it start in our homes. Father, help us to turn back to you, to humble ourselves, to pray, to seek your face, and to allow you to work in our country.
Father, we see throughout history that when people turn back to You, it doesn’t matter what the odds, it doesn’t matter how many weapons they have, it doesn’t matter how much might, and how much power, and how much money they have. Lord, You delivered Israel in the past when they only had two swords, in the whole nation, and given them victory. You delivered them when they were taken captive, taken to a foreign land. Father, you can deliver us as we turn back to You, and we pray Father that you would help us to do so. In the name of Jesus Lord we pray, Amen.
